CZYZ JONES - LEAD INSTRUCTOR
Czyz Jones, is an Atlanta native of the Peoplestown/Summer Hill community. Growing up, his neighborhood presented a lot of challenging circumstances from gun violence to gangs trying to recruit him and his peers. In, addition, there weren’t many positive outlets in the community and no one to talk to about different stressors in his life. Fortunately, Mr. Jones found comfort at the local community center. After graduating from high school Mr. Jones went on to become a technician for Mercedes Benz of Buckhead. During his 5 year tenure, he acquired a number of certifications.
He then moved on to become Foreman of his uncle’s construction company. There is where he learned how to operate various types of heavy equipment. Once developing those skill sets, Mr. Jones attended Lara’s Technical Institute and trained in welding for 18 months which led to his current profession as a Millwright. In his current capacity, he has acquired 20 different certifications ranging from human performance to nuclear power turbine training. Now, trains inner-city youth and young adults of Dream Builders to help others achieve their dreams.
DARRELL JOHNSON JR. - LEAD INSTRUCTOR
Darrell Johnson Jr, a former U.S. Navy sailor, took interest in community relations at the tender age of 12 years old. The eldest of three he learned early how to set examples of impact, leadership, honesty, and values. He has mastered the art of converting life lessons and responsibility into great work ethic and transferable skills. While serving in the U.S. Navy; Darrell obtained skills of painting, carpentry and machine operating. Through discipline and service in the U.S. Navy he become a more well-rounded man. Darrell also enrolled as a nontraditional student at Georgia State University majoring in Anthropology. His current mission is to leave the ladder down and allow individuals to reach success while creating a much more sustainable solution for any shortcomings. Additionally, he obtained a CDL certificate as a heavy equipment operator while driving for Sunbelt rentals, Darrell trained and managed backhoe loaders, excavators, and aerial equipment. He has since returned to Peoplestown to assist many of his childhood friends with obtaining their CDL license. Even though the community is faced with gang violence and the drug epidemic; he has navigated the climate by reaching out to those that lagged.
